When HTC asked
us to launch their new Desire smartphone to millennials, the brief was to focus
on its personalisation features.
But in a world
where everything can be personalised these days, from your car to your
chocolate bar, we wanted to create something genuinely useful.
We set out to solve a common problem. With more ways to listen to music than ever nowadays, sometimes we just can’t decide what we’re in the mood for.
Enter the HTC Mood Player.
Take or upload a selfie, and using facial recognition software, the app detects your mood and suggests a suitable Spotify playlist to match.
Feeling sad? Wallow in musical misery or improve your mood with a happy playlist.
The app delivered on the campaign theme of ‘more you’. It created a real social media buzz, gained coverage in the major tech media and secured global reach close to 250 million people.
